Parish Notices

This page contains general information and updates that are relevent to our Church and Parish community. Further information can be supplied on request from the Parish Office.

"It's not FAIR!!!!!"  If you feel that you want to do something to end the injustice of our world, why not take a look at our parish's faith and justice group - JAM.

This group works hard to support CAFOD, Christian Aid and other Faith and Justice charities.

The JAM group will be having a "re-launch" lunch on Saturday 30th August from 12:30pm onwards.  The venue will be Claire and Paul Law's house, and any one interested in the group is cordially invited!

We hope to keep the gathering informal.  It will be a chance for a chat and a get-to-know each other, and also a brief chance to discuss  possible areas that JAM could work on, with people volunteering for just one specific role each, if they felt able.   By attending the lunch, you WON'T be forced into doing lots of "jobs", you will just be a support to those already involved!

Please let Claire Law or Father Tom know if you are interested, or if you want to find out more details.

Please could parishioners save any empty jam jars for use by the JAM Group in a fund raising project.  Clean, empty jars can be handed into the presbytery or to Claire Law.    Thank you.

The Water Companies are ignoring churches’ charitable status and starting to charge churches for the amount of area the premises cover. This will effectively raise our water bills by hundreds, if not thousands of pounds. A serious drain (excuse the pun) on our finances!

There is an online Government petition that you can register on so please register to help us meet the 15,000 target we need to be noticed!

You can access this petition by clicking here

Children’s Liturgy is one of the many wonderful activities, which take place within our parish community. Children’s Liturgy provides a setting for our children to worship God in a manner suitable for them, and has led to many parents coming to Mass for perhaps the first time in many years. Children’s Liturgy relies on a small group of very dedicated volunteers and currently we could do with a few more!

If you feel you would like to find out more about how you could get involved in this very fulfilling ministry please speak to Fr. Tom or Michael Crowther

Holy Hour: On Saturday 19th July, the 2nd of  our new Holy Hour services will take place, from 11am - 12 noon.

The hour will be divided into 4 segments, with music, prayer or a reading introducing each 15 minutes, then silent prayer.

We Welcome Parents with Young Children!

Children’s Corner: situated at the front left hand side of the church.   Here you will find a place where small children* can play quietly with a whole array of child friendly toys and activities.   We hope that the area will allow you to keep your children occupied whilst still being able to remain in church with us to celebrate the Eucharist.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult whilst in the Children’s Corner

Children's Liturgy: For children aged 4 - 11 years it is a great opportunity to make friends, play games and listen to stories about Jesus' adventures. Children's liturgy is held every Sunday at 11 o'clock Mass. For more information why not speak to Fr Tom?

Baby Changing Area: situated in St Thomas’ Room (2nd Toilet)

There is a suggestion box at the back of church where parishioners can post comments or suggestions for the attention of the Parish Pastoral Council.

Mass Cards: There will be a small selection of Mass Cards at the back of church each week for purchasing. These are being designed and made by members of the Computer Group. Please place payment in the basket when taking a card. Thank you.

Child Safety: Whilst the church makes every effort to sustain a safe & healthy environment for our parishioners in general and our young children in particular, parents are ultimately responsible for the care of their children.  Parents are reminded that children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times in the church grounds, whether in the Parish Garden, Children’s area, Church or St Thomas’ Room.  Thank you.

IMPORTANT NOTICE re PARKING!  Please can anyone who drives to Mass consider those less mobile when parking. If possible please park elsewhere but if you feel it is necessary to park at the front of church, please park as near to the presbytery as possible leaving plenty of parking space for those with mobility problems and easy access for the taxi to drop off its passengers directly to the church entrance. Please also avoid parking in front of the Newsagents opposite as it can seriously affect their business.
