The Sacrament of Confirmation

A Christian rite admitting a baptized person to full membership of a church.  In this sacrament we receive the Holy Spirit,  just as the apostles received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

All who have been baptised are invited to  receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.  The normal minister of this sacrament is the Bishop of the Diocese, though in his absence a priest can do the honours.

In the case of those coming into Full Communion with the Catholic Church, the sacrament is usually celebrated at the time of Reception.

In the case of children, the normal age for reception of the Sacrament is not before the child's twelfth birthday.
