Vocation
Have you ever
thought you might have a
vocation to be a priest?
The life of a priest is a demanding but a most rewarding
one. As a priest you are an important person within the parish, engaged with
the people in the building of an authentic Christian community.
At this stage you may not know what you want to do with
your life. Perhaps you feel that you have little to offer. But, if your
faith means something to you, and you would like to share it with others,
then this vocation may be for you.
Be open to the possibility that God may be calling you to
the priesthood. Be generous in offering yourself to Him, and remain faithful
in your prayer life. Do not be afraid but trust in Him. And in words from
The Ordination Rite, 'May God who has begun the good work in you bring it to
fulfilment'.
St Mary's House of Formation, Cleator, Cumbria was
founded by Bishop Patrick O'Donaghue in 2003 to prepare men to enter major
seminary; to give them an opportunity to experience the daily life of
priests working in parishes; to provide hospitality and encouragement to all
those enquiring about or discerning a calling to priesthood.
At St Mary's House students experience a wide range of
pastoral situations and the course of study is adapted to the needs of the
individual.
