Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers are appointed by the bishop to take Communion to parishioners who are housebound, and to help with the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass.

The mission of a Eucharistic Minister is to serve God and His people by bringing the Body and Blood of Christ to their fellow parishioners.  Eucharistic Ministers prepare the bread and wine and all the sacred vessels for the Eucharistic Celebration (see The Sacraments). They serve the Body and Blood of Christ to the gathered community, and along with other liturgical ministers they prepare the Church for the next liturgy.

The word Eucharist means thanksgiving, and it follows that the first purpose of a Eucharistic Minister is to thank God for giving us His Son, Jesus, in Holy Communion.
