Stewardship

Gifts Given, Gifts Shared.

Stewardship is a continuous and ever-evolving programme taking place at English Martyrs', offering the opportunity for the involvement of all members of our Parish Community, both new and old.

  • What is Stewardship About?

    • Stewardship is...
the way to ensure that English Martyrs' parish has a future. It means that everyone in the parish takes care of it as something that they own, and that we take care of each other as we do in our families.
The Church is changing from the old model of the Priest  making all the main decisions about parish life to the new model of true collaboration and sharing of gifts.

      Stewardship is...
the way to transform our parish from within and make it new.

What does Stewardship mean for me?

I gain from the gifts of others; they gain from what I have to offer.

I am contributing to keeping English Martyrs' alive and thriving.

What does Stewardship involve in the Parish?
Stewardship is about our response to all God’s gifts, but in particular to His greatest gift to us, Jesus Christ.  It  is Jesus who gives us our mission as Church. That mission, as it was for Jesus as priest, prophet and servant, is three-fold:

      To pray
                  To challenge           To care

This was defined by Paul VI as
“seeking to transform humanity from within and make it new.”

      How is it carried out?

By inviting all members of our parish to discern and reflect on their gifts and talents.

By engaging ourselves in an honest evaluation of our parish and the needs of our own local community.

By offering our time on a limited basis.

By taking responsibility for the care and development of our parish.

By involving ourselves in true collaboration and sharing of gifts.
